Why You'll Love It!

Easy Recipe: I try to choose the quickest and tastiest food to cook for my family on a regular basis. These days, it's all about rice bowls...specifically a dish like Sesame Chicken Rice Bowl since it's made with brown rice, which is better for you.

Assembles in a Flash: You can stir-fry the chicken and vegetables in 15 minutes, add a delicious sauce, then serve the entire meal over rice in a bowl. How cool is that?

Delicious Flavor: The sesame sauce creates incredible flavor and brings the whole dish together in less than half an hour. (Yum Yum sauce is totally optional.)

How to Make Sesame Chicken Rice Bowl

  • Add chicken to skillet and stir fry for 5 minutes over medium high heat.
  • Add broccoli to skillet and stir fry for 4 minutes over medium heat.
  • Turn heat to low.

SESAME SAUCE

  • Mix all ingredients together to create sauce.
  • Pour sauce over chicken and broccoli in skillet.
  • Let simmer for 5 minutes on medium heat.

YUM YUM SAUCE

What is Yum Yum Sauce?

Yum Yum sauce is a blend of mayonnaise, ketchup, sugar and vinegar that tastes delicious when drizzled over rice and chicken.

My hubby really loves Yum Yum sauce. Now, while I know adding this sauce basically negates the healthiness of the dish, if a little bit gets him to eat his veggies, I'm all for it. If you have a fussy eater at home, then this recipe is for you.

Storing Leftovers

Sesame Chicken makes great leftovers and can be stored in an airtight container for up to 5 days in the refrigerator. Leftovers can also be frozen in an airtight container for up to 3 months.

To reheat, allow the chicken to thaw in the fridge overnight, then microwave it in 30 second intervals until heated to 165º F. Or, reheat it in a saucepan on the stovetop.

Variations

  • add beef, pork or salmon to the bowl for a different flavor profile
  • use fresh herbs and other spices like curry or hot sauce if desired
  • include more veggies like fresh spinach or asparagus for extra crunch

  2. would love to make sesame chicken rice bowl. how much vinegar in yum yum sauce?
also, do i use 1 T vinegar in the sesame sauce? thank you.

    1. Hi Linda. The vinegar is in the sesame sauce. There is no vinegar in the yum yum sauce because there's vinegar in the mayonnaise, so you don't need it.
