The Best Holiday Beverage!
Rich and Creamy - heavy cream makes the creamiest hot cocoa.
Perfect After Dinner Drink - rich enough to pass for dessert.
Ready in 10 Minutes - takes only a few minutes to mix, heat and enjoy!

Peppermint white hot chocolate is so much better when you make it from scratch. There’s no instant powder in this recipe. Just simple ingredients that create a smooth cup of cocoa you can sip on whenever the mood strikes.

Ingredients
See recipe card for quantities and tips.
- White Chocolate Chips - can use candy melts as a substitute
- Whole Milk - can use skim but it won't be as creamy
- Heavy Cream - substitute half and half if preferred
- Peppermint Extract - can substitute vanilla extract if desired
- Optional Whipped Cream - use store bought or homemade
- Optional Crushed Candy Canes - can also crush peppermint candies

How to Make It
1 - In a saucepan on the stovetop, add white chocolate chips and stir constantly over medium-low heat until it starts to melt. Make sure it doesn’t boil. You can also use a double boiler if preferred.

2 - Slowly pour in the milk and continue stirring over medium low heat. Once the chocolate has completely melted, stir in the heavy cream.

3 - Remove from heat and stir in the peppermint or vanilla extract.

4 - Pour white chocolate cocoa into your favorite mug and enjoy with optional toppings like whipped cream, crushed candy canes and miniature marshmallows.

What to Serve with Peppermint White Hot Chocolate
- Love peppermint flavor? Try it with a slice of Candy Cane Pie for a minty extravaganza!
- Since peppermint and chocolate go great together, serve it with this Hot Cocoa Poke Cake.
- Need an escape from reality? Kick back with these Chocolate Covered Bourbon Cherries and sip on hot cocoa to your heart’s content.
Tips for Success
- Take care not to burn the white chocolate when melting it in a saucepan. To prevent this, you can use a double boiler or a glass bowl over a saucepan filled with hot water. This method allows the heat from the steam of the water to melt the white chocolate without direct contact with the stove.
- Use whole milk and heavy cream for the thickest cocoa possible.

Variations
- Try mixing up the extract until you find the perfect match. I like to use vanilla extract when I’m feeling mellow and peppermint when I need a pick-me-up.
- You can also try melting dark chocolate chips and swirl the syrup into the white chocolate. (This is delish!)
- For a lighter beverage, omit the heavy cream and go with skim milk or half and half.
Storing Leftovers
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheat in a saucepan on the stovetop over medium low heat, or in the microwave in 30 minute intervals until warmed throughout.
