fresh mint, lavender or basil(optional flavor infuser)
Instructions
BLACK TEA
Bring water to boil in a large saucepan on stove. Add tea bags and let steep for 10 minutes while making lemonade.
Remove tea bags after 10 minutes and let tea cool down. Add to a large pitcher and stir.
LEMONADE
In a saucepan on medium heat, add sugar to boiling water and stir until sugar is dissolved to make a simple syrup. Add fresh mint or basil if infusing. If not, proceed to next step.
Juice lemons into a bowl using a lemon squeezer. Pour in the simple syrup from the saucepan and mix well.
Add lemonade mixture to tea in the pitcher and stir. Add lemon slices and mint leaves. Stir in cups of ice which will melt down into water. Add more ice as needed.
Fill tall glasses to the top with ice.
Pour Iced Tea Lemonade over ice in tall glasses.
Garnish glasses with lemon slices and mint leaves if desired.
Notes
Everyone likes a different amount of sweetness. Start with 1 cup of simple syrup and taste to see how you like it before adding the other ½ cup of simple syrup.
If you like your tea stronger, use more tea bags.
The ice melts into the tea and lemonade. If needed, add extra cold water to fill the pitcher.
For calculation purposes, I used a 10 cup pitcher for this recipe.
