This Pigs In a BlanketWreath is dressed up for the holidays as a delicious edible centerpiece! Crescent rolls surround little smokies with a savory dipping sauce for an easy appetizer recipe that's the hit of every holiday party!
Press the crescent rolls into one long sheet on a parchment lined pan.
1 8 ounce can crescent rolls
With a pizza cutter, cut the pastry sheet into 15 equal squares (3 long x 5 wide).
Cut each square into 2 triangles, equaling a total of 30.
Put a cocktail sausage on the small end of each triangle and roll it up in a 'blanket'
1 14 ounce pkg. cocktail smokies
On a circular pizza pan or other baking dish, place a 6 inch oven-safe dish in the middle.
Place the pigs in a blanket in a circular pattern around the dish.
Make sure the crescent rolls touch each other. You can stagger them in and out or arrange them in a smooth circle depending on how you want the wreath to look.
Brush crescent rolls with butter, then sprinkle with bagel seasoning or poppy seeds.
1 Tbsp. butter, 1 Tbsp. bagel seasoning
Bake wreath at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until edges are golden brown.
Cool for 10 minutes, then arrange mixed greens on the tray in the middle and outside of the circle. Garnish with cocktail tomatoes.
Take the oven safe dish away and place a small bowl of barbecue sauce or sauce of your choice in the middle.
1 cup BBQ sauce
Provide tongs and additional dressing for the salad.
Notes
Sprinkle the dough with flour to help with rolling.
Make sure the crescent rolls are touching before baking.
Every oven is different, so watch the rolls carefully to make sure they don't burn.
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the refrigerator. To reheat, bake at 350 degrees F until warmed throughout.
Pigs in a Blanket can be frozen before or after baking in an airtight container or vacuum sealed bag for up to 3 months. Thaw out in the refrigerator overnight and bake at 350ºF for 10 to 15 minutes before serving. You can also bake them frozen on a sheet pan for the time specified in the recipe below.
