EasyOreo Peppermint Bark creates a sweet treat for the holidays, and a homemade gift for family and friends in just 30 minutes. Since it's a no-bake recipe, it's super easy to make with kids for Christmas!
STEP 1: Start by lining a sheet pan or baking sheet with parchment paper or wax paper, and set aside.
STEP 2: Melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips with 1 tablespoon of coconut oil on medium low heat in a saucepan.
STEP 3: Pour the melted chocolate chips on the bottom of the parchment lined baking sheet. Be sure to make one even layer, and spread it completely.
STEP 4: Carefully place 30 of the Oreos on top of the melted chocolate in 5 columns and 6 rows. Place chocolate bark in the freezer for about 10 minutes to set.
STEP 5: While the bottom part of the bark is setting, melt white chocolate chips with the rest of the oil in a saucepan over medium low heat. Pour white chocolate over chocolate bark, completely covering the Oreos and the bottom layer.
STEP 6: Crush the remaining 5 Oreos and sprinkle them on top of the white chocolate. Crush candy canes and sprinkle them on top of Oreos.
STEP 7: Freeze the entire cookie sheet for about 10 minutes, or until solid. Score the top and cut into 24 pieces.
Notes
Microwave Instructions: The chocolate can also be melted in the microwave if preferred. Use a microwave-safe bowl to melt the chips on medium heat in 30 second intervals, stirring well until completely smooth.
Scoring the bark before cutting it helps ensure the bark breaks cleanly.
Substitute any type of generic Oreos, including the thin kind, or another flavor like vanilla or mint. The only type that won't work are Double Stuff Oreos because they may be too tall for the white chocolate to cover them completely.
Use hard peppermint candies like Starlight Mints instead of candy canes for the peppermint flavor if you can't find candy canes.
